Plow Maker Farms

Stupice Tomato

This Czechoslovakian heirloom tomato has a flavorful tart tomato taste. People who like tangy tomatoes will enjoy Stupice's flavor. Stupice inspires strong emotions in people. This is one variety that people seem to either love or hate with passion.

This rich flavorful tomato is great for making tomato juice, adding zing to a sandwich or topping a fresh salad. It is frequently used as a slicer tomato.

Stupice was developed in a state owned farm in a small Czechoslovakia village, Stupice. It was sent to the USA in 1976 by Milan Sodomka, the man who bred Stupice. In his 70's at the time, Sodomka frequently read Rodale's "The Organic Farming and Gardening" magazine. After reading an article titled "Special Seeds for Special Needs," he sent Rodale seven varieties of tomato seeds including Stupice.

Why We Are Certified Organic

We don't just say we grow organically, we are certified Organic. This means our farm and operating procedures are inspected, approved and certified Organic by Washington State's Department of Agriculture. Sure it takes us extra time and work to meet Washington's strict organic requirements, but we think it is worth it for our customer's peace of mind.

Growing organically requires more than not using pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Plow Maker Farms has sustainable growing practices that improve our soil, create habitat for wildlife, and leave the land better than when we started farming. We take the time to certify our farm so you know you are getting the very best organic berries and produce.

Why We Are Certified Organic

We take the time to certify our farm as organic so you know that you are getting safe and fresh food. You can be confident that your food is produced in an earth friendly and sustainable manner. After all, we eat the food we grow too!
